We invite you to join us as we examine how we have grown in our faith through caring for creation; how we grow the food we eat; the ways we grow in friendship through Earth care activities; and how our awareness of the world grows the more we learn.
There are many ways to share this ministry—read our Creation Care Journal to learn about local activities and articles, come out to an event during Earth Care week in April, help out at the Black Mountain Home Garden, join us in faith development… and more!
It may help to know that the Creation Care Task Force Task Groups do not meet regularly, but design email conversations and meetings to fit the particular need at hand. We try and minimize the time commitment by sharing most of our discussions through email and the phone. Contact Penny Gibbs in the church office to join the email list.
Activities Coming Up:
The Creation Care Task Force has planned a year of activities that focus on learning about and acting to protect God’s creation.
- Join with the youth of our church to clean up litter of all sizes and shapes along the French Broad River.
- Our Wednesday Night Dinner will feature local foods prepared by our resident chef, Char Frellick. We will need servers and folks to clean up after the dinner.
- Come work in the Garden at the Black Mountain Home for Children for a special planting by FPC members and visitors. (SPROUT!)
- Our worship service will focus on Creation Care and we will gather for a hike after a potluck lunch. All ages are welcome to explore the forest and look at the wide variety of living things that God has put on earth.
