Creation Care Week (4/21-4/27)

Earth Day is observed each year on April 22 and at FPC, we observe a Christian celebration of Earth Day called Creation Care Week with several activities organized by the Creation Care Team:

Tuesday, April 22, Earth Day. HOPE RISES! An Earth Day Celebrationis a vigil celebrating God’s creation and calling on people of faith to care for it at Pritchard Park from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sponsored by WNC Green Congregations.

Wednesday, April 23. Jennifer Rennicks from Southern Alliance for Clean Energy will be our guest speaker for the Wednesday night program starting at 6:15 pm. She will speak about the EPA’s first-ever rule for controlling carbon pollution from existing power plants and what it means for Asheville and the surrounding region.

Saturday, April 26. We will host an intergenerational clean-up of the streets surrounding the church that we have “adopted.”  Time and place to be announced.

Sunday, April 27. Marilyn Kolton and Lou Dwarshuis, our resident wildflower experts, will lead an informative walk to admire God’s handiwork in the spring wildflowers at the Botanical Gardens. Meet at 2:00 pm by the Gift Shop.
